Crushed
October 6, 2008sometimes life is unfair. sometimes life gives you false hopes. sometimes life allows you to swallow some bitter pill. yet most of the time, life allows other people to decide on your future and shatter your dreams.
whoever said that life is fair?
life is unfair to begin with.
foremost, not everyone was born with a silver spoon in their mouths. not everyone was given a loving and caring parents. not everyone was born a prodigy or beautiful or talented. not everyone was privileged enough to enjoy life to the fullest. while some… some have been given the life meant for kings and queens.
how come one gets what he always wants effortlessly? how come they have been given much without even asking for anything? how come life had been easy for them, no sweat, no hardwork, no elbow grease?
and how come, i who tolled and burnt my skin in the sun find it hard to get what i want???
WHOEVER SAID THAT LIFE IS FAIR???
sometimes, life allows a crumb of hope to flicker in that heart of yours. the little flicker becomes a bonfire, and would later on burst upward upon an oxygen’s kiss. sometimes, the hope that lived in your heart allowed some liberty at dreaming, hoping that fragile dream of yours will come true. dreams as fragile as thin glass it seems, a sudden rise in temperature would dangerously shatter the glass, off into its extinction.
can you blame me for hoping? for dreaming? for believing?
those virtues were planted into thine heart in the hope that life will get better not just for me but for my family…
i am crushed, like thin glass on frozen snow.
and no one even noticed…
